Together with car hire company Sixt and BMW ConnectedDrive, Design Hotels and 11 other member hotels have come up with unique driving itineraries for travellers heading to Austria and Germany. The programmes were designed for holidaymakers to discover attractions that are situated off the beaten track.
The tourist sites and routes can be downloaded into the car’s navigation system via BMW ConnectedDrive. The service is only available in BMW cars hired from Sixt in Austria and Germany.
Each itinerary blends culinary, cultural, architectural and historical highlights. Once the desired programme has been downloaded, the system will help guests navigate from their hotel to the tourists spots, while updating drivers with the latest traffic conditions.
For instance, Design Hotels offers a scenic itinerary for guests staying at Louis Hotel in Munich. One of the stops is the newly opened Museum Brandhorst, famous for its modern art collection.
The tour then continues to BMW Welt, a display hall for BMW cars and a modern architectural wonder. A trip to the nearby lake Starnberger See will also allow travellers to experience authentic Bavarian cuisine and culture at its best.
Other ConnectedDrive itineraries will lead drivers to renowned wineries throughout Austria and Germany, dairies specialising in different kinds of cheeses, modern art museums and gastronomic experiences at new restaurants.
The participating hotels in Austria include Hotel Daniel, Wine & Spa Resort Loisium, Das Triest and MAVIDA Balance Hotel & Spa. Meanwhile in Germany, Becker’s Hotel & Restaurant, Louis Hotel, Gastwerk Hotel, Designhotel UberFluss, Lux 11, 25hours Hotel Frankfurt and Ceres am Meer are the only hotels that offer the service.
