Sunday a flight headed from Mumbai to Dubai was abruptly ordered to abort at the time of take-off, and ordered to promptly return to the gate after a concerned citizen phoned airport officials at claimed that there was a bomb threat aboard the aircraft.

The call was placed anonymously but the individual he gave the seat number in which the alleged terrorist would be sitting, 17F. Once the plane returned to the gate all passengers were evacuated and a holding area was set up to detain them until all passengers had been checked for illicit items.

The breaking story came just after it was announced that plans had been leaked regarding a suspected attack by a well known terrorist organisation on an Indian Airlines flight headed for London. The information indicated that plans called for the hijacking of an aircraft and then it would be flown into a building somewhere in the British capital. Two men on board this most recent flight were detained, however the flight was allowed to resume its scheduled route later on in the day.

Just last Saturday, an aircraft leaving Ghana, also headed for the UK, was forced to emergency land in Algeria after the plane experienced a malfunction with its hydraulics. The aircraft, belonging to Ghana International Airlines, landed inside a small town in the African nation, and then passengers were shuttled on another aircraft to Libya to await an alternate flight. A statement from GIA indicated that there were no injuries, but that the plane had been landed strictly as a precaution to ensure the safety of its passengers.

Several witnesses on the aircraft, however, reported a loud explosion not long after the plane ascended into take-off. Among the 115 passengers aboard, no one has come forward to report any injuries, although some reportedly were treated for shock.
