Car hire firm Sixt has said it is experiencing an increase in enquires from Brits about vehicle rental ahead of expected severe weather across much of the UK, as well as engineering work and strikes on Underground and rail networks. Car hire firm Dollar Thrifty has rejected the latest take over bid by Hertz Global. The company said the Hertz had failed to meet with necessary requirements by a pre determined deadline. Dollar said that Hertz had not managed to protect against possible objections by the antitrust bodies.

Motoring organisation the RAC has been sold to a private equity firm in the US in a deal worth £1 billion. The new owners are the Carlyle Group based in Washington. The RAC will join other well known brands in the group’s portfolio such as car hire firm Hertz and Dunkin’ Donuts.
