California is situated on the West Coast of the USA and is its largest State. It faces directly on to the Pacific Ocean and have a highway that runs right down the coast from San Francisco to as far as San Diego.
Northern California has several cities and areas of interest; some of these are San Francisco, Yosemite National Park and Monterey.
Visit California’s San Francisco, with its old cable car network, Fisherman’s Wharf where you can take a bay cruise or a ferry to Alcatraz and visit the old prison, see the Sea Lions that congregate on one of the rafts in the Wharf or dine at one of the many restaurants or market stalls. You can even take a helicopter trip over the city and see the magnificent Golden Gate Bridge from the air.
Yosemite National Park is one of California’s big attractions with its many walks and waterfalls to see. You may even see a bear or two. Why not stay in the park and be right in amidst the trees and wildlife.
Monterey is a great place for the beach, golfing and the famous Cannery Row with its great views across the Ocean. You may also want to take a Whale watching trip from here although wrap up warm as it gets cold out at sea!!
Take a drive down the California coastline to places like Cambria Pines, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and San Diego.
California also has the Napa Valley wine country in the north and you could take a coach trip or even drive yourself for a day here and sample the Californian wines.
The weather is warm all year round; although some of the North Coast cities in California can be chilly so take something a little warmer to wear in the mornings and evenings.
