Moimenta Da Beira is not the most happening place in Portugal and is somewhat off the beaten tourist path. However, for this reason it is quite popular with those looking for an escape as it lies amid mountain scenery in the middle of northern Portugal. The seat of the county is not awash with tourists sights and you could easily do the town centre n an hour or two. A couple of worthwhile sights worth seeing, though, are the convent-cum church and the 18th century Solar dos Guedes mansion with its fine décor.

With cheap car hire at Moimenta Da Beira you can also get out to some fine hiking spots amid the mountains and woods of the country here. There are miles of established trails and plenty of viewpoints on the road, to boot.
