Before 1926, the current suburban town of Morden was a sleepy village with just a few homes and a couple of scattered farms but that was before the Northern Line Underground was extended to Morden. Almost overnight the town began to grow into a commuter town due to its easy commuting distance of central London.
Morden is located in the county of Surrey and is only 10 miles southwest from central London. The town of Morden is bordered by Sutton to the south, Merton Park to the north, Mitcham to the east and Worcester Park to the west.
Morden makes an excellent base for exploring central London the south of England. Car rental at Surrey Morden is your best method of getting around the region. Even though Morden itself does not have a great deal to entice the visitor, it is part of the Borough of Merton which has plenty of attractions for the visitor.
A pleasant day out with cheap car hire at Surrey Morden is the Merton Abbey Mills craft village. The market is just next to the River Wandle inside what used to be a Liberty silk- printing works. Just next to the craft market you will also find a teahouse, a pizza place and a pub next to the river. An Antiques and Collectibles Market is held every Thursday.
Just a short distance from Morden and easily accessible with car hire at Surrey Morden is the charming urban community farm, Deen City Farm. This is a working farm where you can visit the many different birds and animals which include horses, chickens, geese, ducks and goats.
